May 21 – celebration of St. Constantine and Helen
Alonissos, the smallest but one of the most beautiful islands of the Sporades, offers many options for the traveler who likes to look for the place he visits in various ways. It is of great cultural, environmental, historical, archaeological and nature-loving interest.
Before the most famous festivals of the island in the center of summer, with representations of traditional wedding and threshing, every May 21, after the Divine Liturgy to celebrate Saints Constantine and Helen, the locals offer a red goat with spaghetti and dessert, made from fresh goat’s milk, in the picturesque church of Agios Konstantinos in Psili Rachi. This chapel is located northwest of the island in a ravine overlooking Skopelos.
