Panigyri of Agios Kyriakos

August 8 @ 8:00 pm - 11:30 pm | Free

It is one of the most special religious and traditional festivals of Syros, which takes place every year during the first ten days of August in one of the most beautiful and picturesque chapels of the island.

The festival of Agios Kyriakos in the settlement of Danakos has become a pole of attraction for many residents and visitors of Syros and combines the observance of religious customs and local traditions.

Saint Kyriakos celebrates on the 8th of August and the faithful of his friend – who are becoming more and more every year – properly honor him. After the Divine Liturgy, the capes serve the people with mastic, Turkish delight and watermelon, as has been the custom for many decades.

Then, outside the illuminated chapel – which lovers of the history of Syros claim to be the oldest on the island – a traditional feast is set up.
