In Karpathos, or “Anemoessa” according to Homer,there are 6 churches dedicated to
Aghios Minas.The festival to his honour is held on the 10 th or 11 th of November and it
is located on the edge of a rock,above the sea in the region Filios.Tables are set up
and local delicacies like carpathic makarounes (type of pasta), manouli cheese and
lots of wine!In this unusual winter festival almost all women are dressed in their
traditional costumes,whereas older women wear these costumes all year long!The
feast lasts many hours as the local music from the live orchestra carries you away!
