One of the last festivals of the summer season in Ikaria is that of Aghios Efstathios in
Arethousa.Every September 20,locals and tourists gather to celebrate at the top of
Atheras.The church is located in the center which gives a wonderful panoramic view
of the island.As the festival begins.live music with Ikarian songs is heard,local wine
and delicacies are served and the fun exploses! Arethousa is a mountain village that
combines the green of the forrest and the wildness of the slate,so there is no
wonder why many hiking groups prefer it as it is a hub for mountain trails.
