Every Easter Monday, the Swing of Lambri is revived in Kythnos with a very big traditional festival.

Earlier in Kythnos, the Swing of Lambri arose because young men in love set up a large swing, 2 by 3 meters, and asked the girl who liked to sit and move together. This was an indication that they had feelings for her and if she accepted their invitation it became an informal engagement between them, for the purpose of marriage. The… eyewitnesses of the common crib therefore sang for them accompanied by violin and lute, finding another occasion for feasting.

Now, to be precise, this is a festival of traditional music, of dozens of dance and cultural clubs from all over Greece (you will see musicians and dancers from the rest of the Cyclades to Pontos and Crete), being invited by the Association of Kythnos, present the purposes , the songs, dances and customs from the traditional festival of their area. So, on that day, the whole town of Kythnos is partying in an incredible atmosphere of traditional sounds, dancers dressed in local costumes, many drinks and delicacies that are sometimes prepared in front of you in cauldrons!
