The feast of Saint Panteleimon
Event Navigation
One of the biggest festivals of Folegandros is the one that takes place on the day of the feast of Saint Panteleimon. Every year a big party is set up in the white Cycladic church of the same name and on the stone slabs of the courtyard dance locals and visitors overlooking the sea. The history of the place wants the inhabitants of Ano Meria Folegandros to build the church of Agios Panteleimon in 1838. Although until then there was an iconostasis on the spot, the Anomerites decided to build the church at the urging of a fellow villager who claimed that the Saint visited his dreams. Despite the difficulties presented to them, they were all miraculously overcome! At the celebration in honor of Agios Panteleimon, you will hear island music by local musicians and try local delicacies.
