Every year in Leros, at the seashore of Gourna, the feast of Alonaris – agrotis (which means “farmer”) takes place during the last days of July. It consists of a theatrical scene where carriages and horses complement the representation of threshing. Once the performance is completed, the traditional threshing floor is cleaned and the feast begins with live traditional music and the dance of Alonaris, his family and his assistants.
